Information about Potter's Place

Potter’s place is the exciting after school childcare program sponsored by Second Baptist Church in Edmeston.  We use the word “exciting” for two reasons.  First, the students that are part of this program aren’t just left to watch television or play video games for two hours.  They are engaged in activity.  After checking in and getting a snack, the priority is homework.  Our workers are on-site tutors for the difficult assignments and work hard to make sure homework is done.  Then the activities are as varied as the students who attend our program.  They include arts and crafts, team-building, and development of leadership skills.  We also like to teach students how to be good citizens for their families, schools and communities.  To that end, a monthly Grab-n-Go night has been created.  Students are involved with planning, organizing, preparing and serving a supper meal for the families to take home and eat together.

The second reason Potter’s Place is exciting is that it is intended to provide a safe affordable after school care program for working families.  We have purposely created Potter’s Place from the perspective of working families.  We are a not-for-profit entity so we are more worried about what we’re doing for your kids than we are the profit margin.  Our staff is paid and has cleared all background checks.  The bottom line is that Potter’s Place was created with the best interests of the students and their families in mind.  If you would like more information please call Second Baptist at 607-965-8540 or email us at edmeston2baptist@gmail.com.
